ABOUT ME
Over the last 20 years as an an influential and award winning Creative Director and Executive Creative Director, I have focused on uniting the relationship between design and advertising to achieve a company's strategic marketing objectives. In my most recent role as Creative Director of Global Brand for Twitter my focus was on shaping a design POV for the brand through #Studio, the company's in-house creative team. This work has led to multiple awards, most notably, the Grand Prix at Cannes.
Prior to joining Twitter, I owned and operated DeRouen & Co., a design and brand development firm based in Austin, Texas. With an expertise in consumer packaged goods, the studio centered on establishing young brands and re-positioning maturing companies.
In 2003, I became the first Design Director for McGarrah/Jessee where I played an integral role in the establishment and management of Chaos Concept Mfg., the agency's design group. There I was honored for my work shaping brands such as Frost Bank, Whataburger, Shiner Beers and Central Market. Through this role, I championed a more holistic approach to "brand." I expanded what is considered the standard writer/art director "creative team" to include both traditional and UX designers resulting in a more consistent brand message across all consumer facing touch points.
After my time at McGarrah/Jessee, I co-founded The Decoder Ring Design Concern, admired for its innovative and award-winning design. There I led work for clients ranging from Sony and Texas Monthly to Modest Mouse and Toyota.
I have been recognized by every major awards organization including The One Show, Communication Arts, Print, Clio Awards, D&AD as well as Cannes Lions. My work is also preserved in the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
