Great Raft Brewing
The initial brand assignment for Great Raft was to playfully reference the history and heritage of Shreveport, Louisiana, paying special attention to the brewery’s namesake the Great Raft. When this180-mile logjam obstructing the Red River was finally cleared in 1838, the city grew to become a center of steamboat commerce and a vibrant part of the Deep South. The steam snagboat paired with hand drawn type is a contemporary take on older, more traditional beer iconography. Tap handles, growlers and supporting brand elements leverage the visual style of the steamboat era with a tongue-in-cheek nod to Southern tradition.
